Everything you need to know about TBEN and our community.

What is the Toronto Black Educators Network (TBEN)?

Toronto Black Educators Network is a community-driven educational platform created to support Black educators, learners, families, and community advocates. TBEN provides space for connection, collaboration, professional growth, mentorship, and advocacy, with a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and collective empowerment in education.

Who can be part of TBEN?

TBEN is open to anyone involved in or passionate about education. This includes educators, education professionals, parents and caregivers, education students, community leaders, and advocates. Regardless of your role or experience, your voice and perspective are valued within our community.

What is the purpose of TBEN events?

TBEN events are designed to foster connection, shared learning, and collaboration. They provide opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, access resources, build networks, and explore pathways that support both educator development and learner success. Each event is grounded in community, advocacy, and positive change.

Do parents and caregivers play a role in TBEN?

Absolutely. TBEN recognizes parents and caregivers as a child’s first educators and essential partners in learning. Your lived experience, insights, and advocacy are critical to building strong educational pathways, and your participation is welcomed and encouraged.

Is TBEN only focused on Toronto?

While TBEN is rooted in the City of Toronto, our conversations, resources, and impact extend beyond geographic boundaries. We welcome participation from individuals and organizations who share our values and vision for equitable and inclusive education.
